about

nice to meet you

A little about me. I’m Phil, I live in Wiltshire, England and started investing around 2018. At that time my wife and I were introduced to investing in funds & trusts by my father in law, as a way to start investing for our future. We both set up stocks & shares ISA’s and started making deposits. I found it fascinating and was checking my account multiple times a day, checking price movements and researching other funds we could invest in. This lead to an interest in individual stocks and other forms of investing. I started to devour all manner of material I could get my hands on to start educating myself.

Ever since I have committed more & more time to this passion, until now, when it is pretty much a full time career. I spend my days researching individual stocks, reading updates from companies I own, checking charts and generally trying to educate myself and improve my investing game. I’m still relatively new to investing and very much still at the beginning of my journey, though I’m very excited to see where it will take me.

Aside from investing my wife & I have a passion for travel. We like to go away as often as possible and one of our main goals is to have the freedom to be able to work from anywhere, so we can avoid some of our infamous UK winters. I also have a passion for golf & running, so spend a lot of time outdoors, which is a nice balance to the many hours a day I spend in front of a monitor.

why i started
a blog

There’s two main reasons really. Firstly to share my journey from investing newbie to, well, hopefully one day competent investor, though it could also be catastrophic failure. Either way it should make for some great content! Selfishly it will also be very useful to look back on in the future, to remind myself of past lessons or compare strategies I may have forgotten about.

Secondly, to provide a source of free content, opinions & experiences on investing. I strongly believe there is a severe lack of financial education in our school system, leading to a severe lack of knowledge on financial management & investing as an adult. It would be great if that could be improved, but until then I will provide content that I feel is useful for anyone looking to start investing, basically my past self. As I grow & learn more, I’ll be able to create content on more subjects.
